Detroit Electronic Music Festival has taken over Detroit with its annual electronic dance music event every Memorial Day weekend since the year 2000! The festival has gone through many name changes throughout its run in downtown Detroit! The festival started off under the name of Detroit Electronic Music Festival from 2000-2002, Movement from 2003-2004, Fuse-In the year 2005, and is currently known as Movement Electronic Music Festival; since 2006, each name shift represents a shift in festival management. However, all of these festivals continued the Detroit Electronic Music Festival tradition by showcasing performances by DJs and musicians and also showcasing the progressive qualities of the culture surrounding electronic music. The festival is most commonly referred to as the DEMF festival among local Detroiters. This festival attracts the youth of Detroit, and even some of the older generations get into DEMF, too! DEMF is also the very first electronic music festival to be held in Detroit. Each year, the festival takes place in Hart Plaza, and it is noted as a landmark event that brought hundreds of people from all over the United States to celebrate Techno music in the city where it got its start. After 2006, Movement Electronic Music Festival evolved into one of the world's largest electronic music festivals!
